Defying an international retail landscape that is challenging at best, Stephan Jaklitsch Architects has designed seven new stores for iconic fashion designer Marc Jacobs, all slated to open by year's end.

The New York-based practice has already completed a Marc Jacobs Collection store and a Marc by Marc Jacobs outpost in Bahrain, both of which opened last month. The firm also designed Marc Jacob's first South American store in Sao Paulo, Brazil, which also opened in February, featuring the Marc Jacobs Collection on the main level and Marc by Marc Jacobs on the second.

Next on the ribbon-cutting roster is a Marc by Marc Jacobs shop on the ground floor of a 19th-century residential building south of London's Grosvenor Square, which will bow this month. It will be followed by a Marc Jacobs Collection store in the new 60-story Elysian tower in Chicago's Gold Coast in June. More Collection stores will debut later this year in Hong Kong and Seoul, South Korea.

These new stores continue a creative partnership between the firm and the fashion designer that began nine years ago, with the brand’s SJA-designed second freestanding store in San Francisco. Since then, the firm has designed all Marc Jacobs stores worldwide.
